I can understand not saying the pledge on the grounds of questioning the meaning. We do tend to teach it via memorization, but at what point do we as individuals say "What am I saying here?" and decide to evaluate the meaning of the pledge and the impact on our life? It can still a good way for us to learn our ties to our American culture and heritage though.

Now I call that being a true American!!!! If you cannot pledge to our flag then how can someone call themself an American????
